Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal about input and output speed from the transmission's two speed sensors. There is a determined ratio for each gear and the signals help calculate the transmission control module (TCM) gear ratio. If the Transmission Control Module (TCM) registers that the gear ratio deviates more than 10 %, one of the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) TCM-0028, TCM-0029, TCM-002A, TCM-002B, TCM-002C or TCM-002D will be stored depending on the cause of the fault.
The diagnostic trouble: (DTC) can be diagnosed at transmission fluid temperatures above +20 °C and for:
- TCM-0028 Gear 1 and engine speed above 250 but below 1350 rpm plus accelerator pedal position greater than 10% and gear ratio = 2.301 +/- 20 %.
- TCM-0029 Gear 2 and engine speed above 500 rpm plus accelerator pedal position greater than 10% and gear ratio = 2.301 +/- 20 %.
- TCM-002A Gear 3 and engine speed above 500 rpm plus accelerator pedal position greater than 10% and gear ratio = 2.301 +/- 20 %.
- TCM-002B Gear 4 and engine speed above 500 rpm plus accelerator pedal position greater than 10% and gear ratio = 2.301 +/- 20 %.
- TCM-002C Gear 5 and engine speed above 500 rpm plus accelerator pedal position greater than 10% and gear ratio = 2.301 +/- 20 %.
- TCM-002D Gear 6 and engine speed above or equal to 250 rpm plus engine torque greater than or equal to 80 Nm and no acceleration.
Substitute value
- Auxiliary program Emergency mode 2 in the transmission control module (TCM) has started.
Hint: Emergency mode in case of malfunction Emergency Mode In Case of Malfunction
Possible source
- Contact resistance or one of solenoid's regulating incorrectly. See table below:
- Mechanical fault in gearbox. Gearbox components worn and causing slip or system pressure too low.
Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- General warning lamp lit
- Abnormally slipping gears.
- Harsh gear changing
- No gear changing.
