Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The gearbox output speed sensor gives the transmission control module (TCM) a signal on the speed of the output drive shaft. Using this signal, the control module can calculate the output speed of the gearbox. The signal is compared with a signal from the gearbox input speed sensor and is used to calculate the gear ratio of the gearbox as well as for diagnosis.
If the transmission control module (TCM) registers that the signal from the gearbox output speed sensor is missing, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed at speeds above approximately 70 km/hand transmission fluid above 20 °C.

Substitute value
- Adaptation function is blocked.
- Lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.
- The transmission control module (TCM) uses the speed signal that the brake control module (BCM) puts on the CAN network.
- If the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) is also missing, the auxiliary program Emergency mode 1 in the transmission control module (TCM) will become active.

Hint: Emergency mode in case of malfunction Emergency Mode In Case of Malfunction

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Gearbox output speed sensor not working.
- Internal fault in transmission control module (TCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- General warning lamp lit
- No lock-up function.
- Harsh gear changing
- No gear changing.
