12V socket in cargo compartment
Preparations
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet at the rear edge. First turn the two handles (1) 90°.
- Pull up the front of the cargo compartment carpet. Fold the front half back over the rear half of the cargo compartment carpet.
- Slide the entire cargo compartment carpet forward slightly. Twist slightly to remove the cargo compartment carpet through the tailgate opening.
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.
- Press the centres of the clips at the lower edge of the foldable side panel on the left-hand side until a click is heard.
- Remove the two clips.
- Remove the plastic nut at the front edge and lower edge of the side panel.
- Repeat the operation on the right-hand side.
- Turn the handle (1) on the right and left-hand sides through 90°.
- Fold the side panels inwards. Lift the panels out.
- Pull the tailgate sill trim panel (2) forwards on the right and left hand sides until the two clips on each side release. Carefully pull the panel with some force as it is tightly secured.
- Remove the wiring (3) for the cargo compartment lighting.
- Pull the sill trim panel straight up until the four clips on the underside release. Remove the sill trim panel.
- Remove the seat cushion (1). First lift the front edge of the cushion and then pull forwards.
- Fold the right rear backrest forward.
Remove:
- the clips (1) in the right front side panel in the cargo compartment
- the clips (2) at the top of the front edge on the side panel for the rear folding backrest
- the panel.
Connection and cable routing
- Press in the catch on the rear brown connector in the cargo compartment fuse holder. Turn up the lock arm as far as possible and pull out the connector.
- Carefully pull apart the sides of the holder for the connector at the ends so that the connector can pass by the catches.
- Pull out the connector.
- Take the cable harness from the kit and connect the blue (BL) cable in position 31 in the connector.
- Refit the connector in the holder and reinstall the whole unit in the fuse holder.
- Route the cable harness forward as far to the right-hand side as possible.
- Secure the foam rubber covered cable (1) at the existing cable harness by the rear crossmember and by the fuse holder as illustrated. Use tie straps (2) (from the kit).
- Route the black ground lead (1) along the right-hand side of the cable duct (2) and into the passenger compartment.
- Secure the cable at the cable duct. Use two tie straps from the kit.
- Fold the insulation panel out of the way.
- Connect the black ground cable (1) to the front ground terminal (2). Use the existing ground screw. Tighten to approx. 10 Nm (8 lbf.ft.).
- Clamp any excess using tie straps from the kit.
- Fold the insulation panel back into place.
- Reinstall the seat cushion.
Installation
- Take the right-hand front side panel in the cargo compartment, turn it over and cut out a hole as per the existing marking. Use a hard surface as support.
- Install the 12V socket from the kit in the hole in the panel (1).
- Install a metal bracket and nuts. Ensure that the rectangular hole in the bracket is opposite the corresponding hole in the panel.
- Tighten the 12V socket to the panel.
- Connect the connector to the 12V socket.
- Reinstall the panel. Ensure that the panel edge (1) is in the slit (2) when installing.
Finishing work
- Secure the panel using the three clips. Replace the fourth clip with the screw (1) and the nut (1) from the kit.
- Tighten the upper rear corner of the panel.
- Secure the blue cable to the existing wiring and the wire for the backrest lock above and slightly behind the right-hand wheel arch. Use tie straps from the kit.
- Fold the backrest back into place.
- Connect the cargo compartment lighting. Reinstall the sill trim panel for the tailgate.
- Reinstall both foldable panels.
- Install the cargo compartment carpet.
