Occupant weight sensor (OWS), cleaning

Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Cleaning/Decontamination

Cleaning after leakage
Use Volvos cleaning agent " Cleaner H", P/N 1161 436-9 (see the Volvo chemicals catalog), and a clean lint-free cloth or similar to clean the vehicle and the seat.

Warning! Follow the instructions on the safety sheet when using "Cleaner H". Use suitable gloves and protective goggles. Wash your hands after using "Cleaner H".

Use sawdust to absorb and remove any silicon dropped on the workshop floor or other surfaces. Sweep up the sawdust with the silicon into a plastic bag.

Caution! The plastic bag must be disposed of according to the workshop procedure for flammable waste.

Clean the equipment and surfaces using cleaner H and paper wipes.

Cleaning components
The following components must always be inspected after contamination by silicon and cleaned if contaminated:
- the seat cushion upholstery
- the backrest cushion upholstery
- the metal structure of the base
- the cable harness and connectors under the passenger seat
- the electrical components under the passenger seat
- the floor carpet on the passenger side
- the floor carpet behind the passenger seat.

Replacing components
The following components must always be replaced if silicon leakage is confirmed:
- pressure sensor/silicon cushion, the foam rubber (seat cushion) and the occupant weight sensor (OWS). Occupant weight sensor (OWS), replacing Removal and Replacement.

Finishing

Handling the waste
All materials used for cleaning and decontamination must be disposed of according to the workshop procedure for flammable waste.
