The status must be "ON" when the parking brake is applied and "OFF" when the parking brake is released.

Check the function of the parking brake switch. Measure the voltage between terminal #1 and ground.

Hint: Terminal pin 1 must be grounded when the parking brake is applied.

Check the cable between combined instrument panel terminal #5 and parking brake connector terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Remedy if necessary.
