Front Door: Service and Repair






Front door

Removal

Removing the front side door




Lower the window 290 mm.
Ignition off.
Remove the door from the vehicle as illustrated.

Remove:
- the outer handle. See Handle outer door front Service and Repair (-2004) or Handle outer door front Service and Repair (2005-)
- the door cassette. See: Door latch, front door Service and Repair. Do not remove the lock mechanism
- weatherstrip. Ensure that the weatherstrip does not bend
- the 3 x screws for the steel strip on the door arch. The screws are located inside the rubber strip. Remove the steel strip
- the rubber strips from the door arch
- the molding at the front edge of the door
- the painted and the black trim strips
- the door mirror. See: Rear view mirror external Rear View Mirror External Rear view mirror external Rear View Mirror External.
Transfer the clips to the new door.
Replace the clip securing the cable to the door mirror.

Installation

Installing the front side door




Install the foam rubber (x2) , P/N 30779309, at the front and rear sections of the door arch as illustrated.













Install:
- the hinges. Use the color markings from the old door for rough adjustment
- the rubber strips on the door arch
- the steel strip using the 3 x screws
- the molding at the front edge of the door
- the painted and the black trim strips
- the door mirror. See: Rear view mirror external Rear View Mirror External Rear view mirror external Rear View Mirror External
- the weatherstrip
- the door cassette. See: Door latch, front door Service and Repair
- the outer handle. See Handle outer door front Service and Repair (-2004) or Handle outer door front Service and Repair (2005-).
Install the door on the vehicle.
Rust-proof. See: Rustproofing .
