Handsfree for cellular phone, system B, entry level (Continued)





Applies to cars with internal amplifier
1. Take cable harness A (marked A in the kit image) from the kit.

Applies to cars with external amplifier
1. Take cable harness C (marked C in the kit image) from the kit.

Applies to all cars
- Connect the gray connector (1) in the new cable harness to the corresponding socket in the media player.
- Connect the gray connector (2) in the new cable harness to the gray connector (3) which was detached from the media player.
- Position connectors (2) and (3) to the left in the opening so that they are not in the way when the media player is installed.
- Plug the remaining connectors which where detached into the media player.
- Reinstall the media player and secure it.




- Pull the 2 cables down on the right-hand side of the center console.




- Fold the carpet to the right of the center console.





Applies to cars with internal amplifier
- Take the mute relay from the kit.
- Plug in the cable connectors to the mute relay.
- Tape 2 thick pieces of foam tape around the mute relay.





Applies to cars with internal amplifier
- Place the relay between the carpet and the climate control unit as illustrated.




- Take the phone module and two pieces of foam tape from the kit.
- Affix the foam tape pieces around the control module as illustrated.




- Connect the connectors as illustrated.
1. The adapter cable (1) to the control module.
2. The cable (2) from the microphone.
3. The cable (3) from the media player.
4. The cable (4) from the phone cradle.




- Position the control module to the left of the glove compartment as illustrated.





Applies to cars with external amplifier
- Take two strip clamps from the kit to clamp cable harness C (which will later be routed back to the external amplifier) above the impact pipe.




- Place the connectors and the excess wiring inside the center console.
- Fold back the carpet.

Steps 55-76 apply to cars with external amplifier.




- Detach the sill molding by first pulling at the front edge and then straight up so the clips release.




- Grasp the upper edge of the right-hand side cushion. Pull the side cushion forward so that the clip on the reverse releases.
- Slide the side cushion up. Remove the side cushion.




- Pull off the rubber strip at the rear of the opening for the right-hand rear door.
- Carefully pry off the lower panel on the C-post on the right-hand side. Carefully pry at the top edge. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool.
- Pull the panel on the C-post so that the two upper clips release. Then continue down until the last two clips release. Remove the panel on the C-post.




- Remove the sill panel in the right rear door by pulling inward on the upper edge until the clip on the inside releases.
- Then continue downward and pull the panel up until the remaining two clips on the underside release.




- Pull off the rubber mouldings at the rear edge of the right-hand front door and at the front edge of the right-hand rear door. This releases the lower panel on the B-post.
- Pull the bottom edge of the lower panel on the B-post until the two bottom clips release.




- Fold the rear seat cushions and backrest forwards.





Steps 61-64 apply to V50 with external amplifier.
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.




- Use a weatherstrip tool and pry up one corner of the sill trim panel so that the two clips on the short side release.
- Pull up the sill trim panel so the remaining six clips release. Remove the panel.
- Detach the rubber strip where it covers the left and right-hand side panel in the boot opening.





Note! On right-hand drive cars, this step only needs to be performed on the left side of the car.

- Remove the screw.
- Pull the panel upwards so that the four clips on the inside release. Remove the panel.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.





Note! On right-hand drive cars, this step only needs to be performed on the left side of the car.

- Fold out the load securing eyelets.
- Insert a scriber with an angled tip into the holes in the top of the covers (1). Turn the scriber so that the tip engages the reverse of the cover. Pull the covers off.
- Remove the screws in the load securing eyelets.
- Remove the screw (2).
- Pull off the side panels at the top so that the two clips at the rear/bottom of the side window and the clip at the bottom of the D-post release.
- Disconnect the connector for the 12V socket, if present.
- Lift out the side panel.
- Repeat the operation on the other side





Steps 65-69 apply to S40 with external amplifier.
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.




- Remove the upper floor support on the left and right-hand sides if applicable.




- Unscrew the two external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate.
- Use a weatherstrip tool and pry up one corner of the sill trim panel so that the two clips in that end release.
- Pull up the sill trim panel at the other end so that the remaining two clips release. Remove the sill trim panel.
- Detach the rubber strip where it covers the left and right-hand side panel in the boot opening.





Note! On right-hand drive cars, this step only needs to be performed on the left side of the car.

Illustrations 68 and 69
- Remove the four clips (1) securing the side panel in the bodywork.
- Unhook the front edge of the parcel shelf panel at the mounting (2) Pull the side panel away from the parcel shelf panel and the panel on the C-post.
- Unhook the side panel from the mounting (3) on the underside of the parcel shelf.
- Disconnect the connector for the 12V socket, if present.
- Unhook the side panel from the load securing eyelets (4). Remove the side panel.
- Repeat the operation on the other side









Steps 70-76 apply to S40 and V50 with external amplifier
- Route the cable inside the floor carpets and lower B-post panel, further to the rear edge of the right rear wheel housing. Route the cables along the existing cable harnesses in the cargo compartment.

Note! Ensure that the cable is positioned so that there is no risk of it catching or rubbing.





(Applies to left-hand drive cars only)
- Continue routing the cable harness to the amplifier.
- Position the cable harness at the existing cable harness to the side and at the rear edge of the cargo compartment, all the way from the right-hand wheel arch to the amplifier.
- Take a short tie strap from the kit and secure the cable harness at the existing cable harness.





(Only applies to the V50)
- Remove the clips and the insulation panel.




- Disconnect the rear connector (1) on the amplifier.




- Connect the T-cable to the amplifier as follows:
1. Connect connector (1) (disconnected from the amplifier) to the female connector (2) on the T-cable.
2. Connect connector (3) on the T-cable to the amplifier.
3. Secure the connectors (1) and (2) with a tie strap.
- Use a cable tie to secure excess cable to the car's existing cable harness.





Applies to the V50
- Reinstall the insulation panel on the left-hand side.

Applies to the S40 and V50
- Connect the cables to the mute relay.
- Tape 2 thick pieces of foam tape around the mute relay as illustrated.




- Position the relay behind the existing cable harness as illustrated.

Finishing work

Applies to all models




- Reinstall the connectors to the rear section of the glove box. Note the color marking on the cable for the right-hand connector.




At the dashboard

Reinstall:
- the lower vent.
- the sound proofing.
- the rear section of the glovebox by guiding it in diagonally inside the center console and then straight forward. The rear section must be positioned on the outside of the remaining inner section.
- the clip for the vent on the glovebox.
- the panel on the dashboard end face.
- the panel on the center console rear edge.
- and connect the display unit.
- the surround for the display.
- the panel above the center console and check that the cable of the control panel is not pinched.
- Remove the tape on the center console.
In the passenger compartment

Reinstall:
- the B-pillar panel.
- the sill trim panels.
- the C-pillar panel.
- the rubber strips in the door openings.
- seat cushions and backrests.
In the cargo compartment

Reinstall:
- the side panels (Check that the sealing strip is on the outside of the panel).
- the load securing eyelets. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.) (applies to V50).
- the sill trim panel for the tailgate.
- the upper floor support if applicable (applies to the S40).
- the rubber strips in the cargo compartment opening.
- the cargo compartment carpeting.




- Turn the ignition key to position II.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable
