Handsfree for cellular phone, system B, entry level









































INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The front page gives the date of this edition and the edition it replaces
- The second page shows the tools needed for the installation and the contents of the installation kit
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text section

Handsfree for cellular phone, system B, entry level

Note! These installation instructions apply to left-hand drive vehicles. When installing in a right-hand drive vehicle, the procedure is carried out on the opposite side and/or mirrored. Where the operation differs, right-hand versions are also displayed with text and images.When installing antenna and Velcro tape the underlying surface must be kept at a temperature of at least +20° C (68°F).Wiring A is for vehicles with an internal amplifier that is located in the media player.Wiring B and C are for vehicles with an external amplifier. This is located on the left-hand side of the cargo compartment.Cars with Performance Sound have internal amplifier.Cars with the High Performance and Premium Sound audio systems have external amplifier.There may be components in the accessories kit that are not used for this installation.




- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Note! Wait at least three minutes before unplugging the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.




- Use a weatherstrip tool to carefully pry loose the panel at the rear edge of the center console. The panel is held in place by a catch on each short side.
- Move the panel to the side to access the two screws underneath.




- Remove the screws.




- Open the glovebox.
- Use a plastic weatherstrip tool to carefully pry loose the panel inside the center console. It is held in place by two clips on each short side.
- Pull the panel away downwards.




- Apply tape to the center console to protect it during removal and installation of the glove compartment.




- Detach the surround around the display and the media player: Press in the catch at the edge of the media player cover. Use a small screwdriver. Carefully pry off the surround at the corner. Use a weatherstrip tool.

Note! Do not damage the panel and dashboard.

- Repeat the operation on the other side.

Hint: If the other side does not detach, press the detached side into position again and repeat the procedure, beginning from the other side.

- Fold the surround backwards. Remove by pulling upwards.




- Press out the display module from the reverse of the center console. Use both hands and press straight back.
- Disconnect the two connectors. Put the display to one side.





Applies to cars with manual gearbox
- Remove the gear selector lever boot from the center console. First pry it off at the front edge using a weatherstrip tool and then unhook it at the rear edge.




- Remove the two screws holding the centre console to the dashboard.
- Remove the connector on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel.
- Remove the center console from the dashboard and tunnel console.




- Remove the two clips securing the cables to the media player by first pressing them to the sides and then pulling them away downwards.

Note! Be careful with the optic cables so that they are not bent or stretched.




- Remove the two screws from the bottom of the media player.
- Pull out the media player and detach the connectors on the rear side.

Note! Note how the wiring is packed on the reverse. The fibre optic cables are easily damaged and must not be bent to a radius less than 25 mm (1").




- Angle up both air vents.




- Grip the air vent, press it out and pull it upward.
- Do the equivalent to the other air vent.




- Insert a scriber and push up one of the catches in the lower edge of the air vents' housing.
- Insert the tool part no. 9995919 in the space that is opened and pull out until the catch releases.
- Repeat this until all catches in the lower edge have released.




- Grip the ends of the housing and pull out until all catches on both the top and bottom are fully free from the inside of the dashboard. If necessary, use a weatherstrip tool to prize out the ends of the housing.

Note! Do not damage the dashboard.Pull alternately on the right and left-hand sides, otherwise the edge of the housing will crack where it enters the air ducts on the inside. The housing is secured firmly so force will be required to release it.




- Remove the panel on the right-hand and left-hand ends of the dashboard. Carefully pry off the panel until the three clips release. Use a weatherstrip tool.

Note! Do not damage the dashboard.




- Remove the clip holding the nozzle for the air duct on the right-hand and left-hand sides.




- Remove the rubber mat from the glovebox.
- Remove the screws, x 5, in the glovebox opening.
- Pull the glovebox straight back in the vehicle in order to release the hidden clips, x 2, in the top edge.
- Remove the outer section of the glovebox.




- Unplug the connectors on the top.




- Remove the screw or the air vent on the right side.
- Pull off the vent to the right and place to one side.




- Remove the clips at the rear edge of the soundproofing panel and remove it.




- Position the steering wheel in its lowest and rearmost position.
- Remove the two screws from the surround for the combined instrument panel.




- Pull out the surround starting at the bottom edge and then the top. The surround is held in place with a clip on each side of the bottom edge.
- Place the surround to one side.




- Take the mounting from the kit and place its support legs in the recess for the combined instrument panel surround and in the left air vent.
- Position the left-hand support leg of the mounting as illustrated. The front edge of the support leg must be parallel with the edge in the cutout in the dashboard. The measurement to the bottom edge of the support leg must be taken from the center of the radius.
- Mark out the holes to be drilled for the mounting.




- Drill out the holes using a -5 mm (13/64") diameter drill bit. Use a 10 mm (25/64") drill stop to prevent damaging the components on the inside.
- Remove any swarf.




- Take two screws and the support plate from the kit. Use the screws to secure the mounting's left leg to the dashboard. Position the support plate on the inside of the leg.




- Drill out the hole for the right-hand support leg with a -4 mm (5/32") diameter bit.
- Take a screw from the kit and secure the right-hand support leg.




- Take a mounting plate and the antenna cable connector from the kit.
- Press in the antenna cable connector onto the rear of the mounting plate.




- Take four screws (l = 16 mm) from the kit and secure the mounting plate at the installed mounting.




- Insert the two connectors on the top of the ignition switch, on the right-hand side of the combined instrument panel, and then down in the dashboard. There is not much space by the ignition switch, so be careful with the cables there.




- Remove the door weatherstrip at the left A-post.
- Pull off the panel from the A-post. The panel is secured by three clips.
- Lift the panel up and inwards in the vehicle.
- Unhook the clip nearest the roof.
- Remove the panel.




- Use isopropanol to clean the molding on the inside of the windshield (as illustrated).




- Remove the protective backing from the antenna, position it as illustrated and press it into place on the windshield molding.




- Route the antenna cable along the A-post, down toward the dashboard and out toward the end.
- Fasten the cable at the A-post using three strip clamps as illustrated.

Caution! The inflatable curtain is located inside the A-post panel. The cable must not be positioned or clamped in this area.




- Mark the holes for the mounting plate on the A-post panel as illustrated.
- Drill out the holes. Use a -2.5 mm (3/32 ") drill bit.
- Remove any swarf.




- Take the microphone with mounting plate from the kit. The microphone may be mounted on the mounting plate. If so, detach it. It is held in place with two catches on the long sides.
- Use two screws from the kit to fasten the mounting plate to the A-post panel.

Caution! The inflatable curtain is located within the A-post panel. It is important that the screws that hold the mounting plate are filed down if necessary so that they go evenly through the panel to the right depth and do not damage the inflatable curtain.

- Check how much of the screws protrudes on the reverse. Unscrew the screws. File off the screws to the correct length.
- Reinstall the screws.




- Press the microphone into place on the mounting plate.




- Route the microphone cable along the inside of the A-post. Secure it with pieces of butyl tape where it folds over the edge of the panel and continue along the front edge as illustrated.




- Reinstall the A post panel.
- Insert the cable for the microphone through the left end of the dashboard.
- Continue routing the cables of the microphone and antenna above the combined instrument panel and to the phone cradle cable at the ignition key.
- Now route the cables in the same way as the cable for the phone cradle.
- Reinstall the rubber strip in the door opening.




- File out a groove for the phone cradle cable in the combined instrument panel surround as illustrated.




- Push the felt tape on the right-hand side of the surround to one side.
- Cut off the two tabs.
- Re-apply the tape.




- Reinstall the combined instrument panel surround. Ensure that the phone cradle cable is positioned in the cutout.
- Adjust the cable length between the phone cradle and surround.
- Reinstall the housing and air vents.

Note! Take care when refitting the air vent housing. Make sure that protruding parts on the right end of the housing do not damage the dashboard.




- Install the phone cradle on the mounting plate.




- Connect the antenna cable (1) to the short cable (2) from the phone cradle mounting plate. Route the microphone cable (3) on to the right side of the center console.
