Inner Side Link Ball Joint






Inner side link ball joint

Preparatory work

Remove the outer steering joint according to: Steering arm outer Steering Arm Outer.

Removing the inner steering joint





Remove:
- lock nut, 1 pc., for the outer steering joint
- 2 clamps
- steering gear's rubber gaiter.

Note! Tape around the steering joint's thread to not damage the rubber gaiter.




Throughly wipe clean the surfaces on the rack and the tool.

Note! Cleanliness is very important as the seals in the steering gear are sensitive to scratches on the rack.

Install tool for counterhold. Use: 999 7020 Counterhold 999 7020 Counterhold together with shim: 999 7021 Distance to 9997020 999 7021 Distance to 9997020. Tighten with 25 Nm.
Place the counterhold so that no part of the tool rests on the machined surface.




Use: 999 7019 Lock key 999 7019 Lock Key to loosen the steering joint. Make sure that the puller rods you sue have the same length.
Remove the steering joint from the steering gear.

Installing inner steering joint

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. [1][2]Specifications.

Install the tie rod. Use thread locker 1161053. Use: 999 7019 Lock key 999 7019 Lock Key. Tighten according to: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications
Remove the counterhold. Clean the rack after the tool has been removed and check that the rack is not damaged.

Install:
- steering gear's rubber gaiter
- lock nut, 1 pc., for outer steering joint
- the 2 clamps

Note! Tape around the steering joint's thread to not damage the rubber gaiter.

Finishing

Install the outer steering joint and check/adjust wheel angles according to: Steering arm outer Steering Arm Outer.
