Alternator: Service and Repair
Generator

Preparatory work
Ignition off
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: Battery Disconnecting
Removal
Removing the air cleaner (ACL) module
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. Service and Repair
Removing the dipstick pipe
Remove:
- the dipstick
- the screw
- the dipstick pipe.
Remove the throttle body (TB). See: Throttle body, B5254T7 Removal and Replacement.
Remove the auxiliaries belt. See: Tensioner accessory drive belt, B5254T7 Service and Repair.
Removing the generator (GEN)
Remove:
- the nut for the battery positive lead
- the connector
- the 3 screws.
Lift out the generator.
Installation
Installing generator (GEN)
Lift the generator into place.
Install:
- the 3 screws
- the connector
- the battery positive lead. Tighten. See: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Installing the dipstick pipe
Replace the seal on the pipe. Add a drop of engine oil to the seal. Install the pipe.
Install:
- the screw
- the dip stick
- the auxiliaries belt. See: Tensioner accessory drive belt, B5254T7 Service and Repair
- the throttle body (TB). See: Throttle body, B5254T7 Removal and Replacement.
Installing the air cleaner (ACL) module
Install:
- the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module, B5254T7 Service and Repair
- the battery negative lead. See: Battery Disconnecting
Test the function.
