Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair






Camshaft position sensor (CMP)

Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work

Removing components





Remove:
- the intake manifold between the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the turbocharger (TC). Slacken off the hose clamps and the screws. Place the manifold to one side
- the cover over the ignition coils.

Removal

Removing camshaft position (CMP) sensor




Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor connector

Remove:
- the screw for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor
- the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque.

Installing the camshaft position (CMP) sensor





Install:
- the camshaft position (CMP) sensor
- the screw for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Tighten. See Tightening torque, B5254T7 Tightening Torque. Connect the connector to the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Finishing

Installing components





Install:
- the cover over the ignition coils
- the intake manifold between the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the turbocharger (TC). Tighten the hose clamps and screws.
