Variable Valve Timing Solenoid: Service and Repair
VVT solenoid

Removal
Removing the variable valve timing solenoid
Remove:
- the screws for the upper timing cover
- the upper timing cover. Disconnect the connector for the variable valve timing solenoid
- the screw for the variable valve timing solenoid
- the variable valve timing solenoid by pulling it straight up.
Installing
Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque.
Replacing the gasket
Note! Check that the gasket follows with the engine cover.
When the variable valve timing solenoid is replaced, the gasket must be replaced.
Note! The beveled edge of the gasket must be facing outwards when installed on the solenoid.
Installing the variable valve timing solenoid
Install:
- the variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid
- the screw for the variable valve timing solenoid. Tighten. See: Tightening torque, B5254T7 Tightening Torque. Connect the connector for the variable valve timing solenoid
- the upper timing cover.
