Description Of Parameters, Quick Test Of The Fuel Tank System
Description of parameters, quick test of the fuel tank system
Leak diagnostic unit pump
Graphic display in the fuel tank system quick test.
Measurement range 0-400 mA.
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value from the pump in the leak diagnostic unit.
The value varies depending on the pressure in the fuel tank system. Higher pressure results in increased power consumption.
Battery voltage
Measurement range 0-17.95 V.
The value indicates the voltage from the system relay to the engine control module (ECM).
The voltage must not be below 11 V when the quick test of the fuel tank system is run.
Fuel tank system quick test
In order for the quick test to start, the status of this parameter must be "Not completed".
- Completed = The engine control module (ECM) has completed the quick test / diagnostic of the fuel tank system during the present operating cycle
- Not completed = The engine control module (ECM) has not completed the quick test / diagnostic of the fuel tank system during the present operating cycle.
Test phase
In order for the quick test to start, the status of this parameter must be "Not running".
The parameter indicates the phase of the test.
- Reference= Reference phase for leaks and function test of the leak diagnostic unit is running
- Fuel tank system = Diagnostics for major leak and minor leak running
- Not running = No quick test or diagnostic is running.
For more information about these parameters:
ECM-439C
The parameter indicates the result of the diagnostic for leakage in the fuel tank system. This diagnostic is run during the "Fuel tank system" test phase:
- No fault found= No leak corresponding to the definition of major leak detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault found= Leakage ≥ 1.0 mm detected by the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-439C will be set in the engine control module (ECM).
ECM-434C
The parameter indicates the result of the diagnostic for leakage in the fuel tank system. This diagnostic is run during the "Fuel tank system" test phase.
- No fault found= No leak corresponding to the definition of minor leak detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault found= 1.0 mm > leakage ≥ 0.5 is detected by the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-434C will be set in the engine control module (ECM).
ECM-4360
The parameter displays the result of the diagnostic for the function in the leak diagnostic unit corresponding to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-4360. The diagnostic is run during "Reference" test phase.
- No fault found = No fault is detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault found= Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-4360 will be stored in the engine control module (ECM).
ECM-436B
The parameter displays the result of the diagnostic for the function in the leak diagnostic unit corresponding to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-436B. The diagnostic is run during "Reference" test phase.
- No fault found = No fault is detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault found= Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-436B will be stored in the engine control module (ECM).
ECM-436C
The parameter displays the result of the diagnostic for the function in the leak diagnostic unit corresponding to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-436C. The diagnostic is run during "Reference" test phase.
- No fault found = No fault is detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault found= Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-436C will be stored in the engine control module (ECM).
ECM-436D
The parameter displays the result of the diagnostic for the function in the leak diagnostic unit corresponding to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-436D. The diagnostic is run during "Reference" test phase.
- No fault found = No fault is detected by the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault found= Fault in the leak diagnostic unit detected by the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-436D will be stored in the engine control module (ECM).
Conditions
ECU power supply (V)
The value indicates the voltage supply from the system relay to the engine control module (ECM).
Atmospheric pressure (Pa)
The value indicates the ambient pressure. The Engine control module (ECM) receives a signal from the atmospheric pressure sensor.
Hint: The sensor is integrated in the Engine control module (ECM).
Fuel level (l)
The value shows the fuel level in the tank. The Engine control module (ECM) receives a signal from fuel level sensor.
Hint: The sensor is connected to the Central electronic module (CEM) and information is sent to the Engine control module (ECM) via CAN.
Ambient temperature (°C)
The value indicates the ambient temperature. The Engine control module (ECM) receives a signal from the outside temperature sensor.
Hint: The sensor is connected to the Central electronic module (CEM) and information is sent to the Engine control module (ECM) via CAN.
Test status
Fuel tank system quick test
Shows the current status of the quick test (In progress/Not in progress)
Test phase
Shows the current phase of the leak diagnosis. For more information, see "Test phases, quick test tank system".
Fuel tank pressure (Pa)
The value indicates the calculated tank pressure. The Engine control module (ECM) calculates the average pressure with the help of the measured power consumption on the leak diagnostic unit's pump. The pressure will rise from 0 Pa to approx. 4500 Pa during the test.
Hint: The calculated pressure can differ from the measured pressure by ±15 %. This is normal.
Test result
DMTL, test result
Shows the test result on the leak diagnostic unit (DMTL).
If "Fault found" is shown, the Engine control module (ECM) has generated a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for the fault. Fault tracing should be started/continued.
Tank system, test result
Shows the test result for the fuel tank system.
If "Minor leak found" or "Major leak found" is shown the Engine control module (ECM) has generated a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for the fault. Fault tracing should be started/continued.
Estimated leak (mm)
The value shows the diameter of the leak. The Engine control module (ECM) calculates the diameter with the help of measurements made during testing.
Hint: The parameter should be used to get an understanding of how close to the diagnostic trouble code limit the system is. If the estimated size of the leak is very close to the diagnostic trouble code limit, fault tracing should probably be carried out despite the test result for the tank system showing "No leakage found", especially if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for leakage was initially generated.
