Removal

Drain the cooling system.
Refer to: Cooling system - draining, charging and bleeding
Install the following items:
- air cleaner housing.
- the ignition coils.
- VVT unit.
- injector.
- exhaust manifold.
Remove the screws for the bracket for the oil pipes for the power steering.
Special Tool: 999 7107
Remove the tensioned mounting yoke
Caution! Take extra care not to damage the mating faces.

Warning! Use extraction equipment.
Note! Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Use: Gasket solution, 1161 440
Installation
Remove: cover plug. Turn the crankshaft clockwise slightly. Install the crankshaft adjustment tool.
Special Tool: 999 5451
Torque:
- Stage 1: Cylinder head, 20 Nm
- Stage 2: Cylinder head, 60 Nm
- Stage 3: Cylinder head, 130 degree
Special Tool: 951 2050
Lubricate all components.
If the cylinder head has been replaced, the valve clearance must be adjusted.
Lubricate all components.
Make sure that the groove at the trailing edge camshaft is positioned over an imaginary center line.
Caution! Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Use: Liquid gasket, 1161059
Ensure that no liquid gasket gets in to the oil ducts.
Special Tool: 951 2767
Special Tool: 999 5454
Torque: M7, 17 Nm
Torque: M6, 10 Nm
Install the following items:
- camshaft seal.
- VVT unit.
- the ignition coils.
- injector.
- exhaust manifold.
- Air cleaner housing.
Fill cooling system.

Torque: M10, 50 Nm
