Noise from door glass / roof seals

DESCRIPTION:
With the RHT in the closed position a squeaking noise may be heard from
the roof seals. The noise may be caused by the friction of the seals rubbing against the body panels and / or the window glass as the body flexes.
NOTE:
New roof seals have been introduced from chassis number 054252, and a new side window division bar was introduced from chassis number 055994. The vehicles with the new division bar have an additional step included.

SERVICE:
Apply the perfluorated oil to the RHT panel seals and the division bar as instructed in the following.
Preparation
Be sure the vehicle is approximately 68°F
(20°C) before applying the oil.
Clean the seal surface with isopropanol
(PN 1161721).
Open the RHT to the service position
Application of oil
Apply oil to the sponge and coat the
windshield frame seal with oil as indicated here.
Apply oil to the sponge and coat the middle
panel seal with oil as indicated here.
Apply oil to the sponge and coat the front
and middle panel seal with oil as indicated
here.
Both driver and passenger sides should be
lubricated.
Lower the front side window down and the
rear side window up fully. Apply oil to the
sponge and coat the division bar seal with
oil as indicated here.
Both driver and passenger side division
bars should be lubricated.
With the front side window down; apply oil
to the sponge and / or a brush to coat inside
the window guide channel with oil as
indicated here.
Both driver and passenger side guide
channels should be lubricated.
From chassis number 055994 a new side
window division bar was introduced. The
top of the division bar contacts a new
sponge rubber insert, be sure to lubricate
the seal insert as well.
Apply oil with the sponge or brush to the
insert as indicated here.
Be sure to wipe off any excessive oil with a
clean cloth as necessary.
Road tests the vehicle to ensure the noises
are gone.
