Convertible Top Frame: Service and Repair






Link system, roof panel

Operation number: 83807-2

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.





Disconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnecting

Removal

Note! Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Remove the following items:
- front headlining Refer to: Front headliner Front Headliner
- middle headlining Refer to: Convertible Top Center Headliner Convertible Top Center Headliner
- rear headlining Refer to: Headliner rear Headliner Rear
- the hinge for the front headlining Refer to: Convertible Top Headliner Center Hinge Convertible Top Headliner Center Hinge

Note! Keep the hydraulic system closed.

Disconnect the hydraulic cylinder for the front lock. Refer to: Convertible Top Front Latch Cylinder Convertible Top Front Latch Cylinder

Remove hall sensor 18 and 19. Refer to: Covertible Top Position Switch Covertible Top Position Switch

Remove the following items:
- front roof panel Refer to: Roof panel front Roof Panel Front
- rear roof panel Refer to: Roof panel rear Roof Panel Rear
- middle roof panel Refer to: Roof panel middle Roof Panel Middle
- parcel shelf Refer to: Parcel shelf Service and Repair

Remove hall sensor 6, 15 and 16. Refer to: Covertible Top Position Switch Covertible Top Position Switch
Remove the front and rear position sensor. Refer to: Convertible Top Position Sensor Convertible Top Position Sensor

Note! Keep the hydraulic system closed.

Detach the following items:
- hydraulic cylinder front roof panel Refer to: Hydraulic cylinder, front roof panel Hydraulic Cylinder, Front Roof Panel
- lock cylinder rear roof Refer to: Convertible Top Lock-Down Cylinder Convertible Top Lock-Down Cylinder




Disconnect the hydraulic hoses.












Remove the cable harness (left-hand side only)












Mark the link system's position against the body.
Remove the link system.




Torque: M6, 10 Nm

Torque: M8, 24 Nm

Remove the master cylinder. Refer to: Convertible Top Primary Lift Cylinder Convertible Top Primary Lift Cylinder

Vehicles with chassis number -042742.









Drill and thread with M6.




Round off the edges and paint the cut section with black paint.

All vehicles
Before installation of the link system, transfer:
- rear lock and bracket
- steering
- bracket for wire
- catch
- front and rear position sensor Refer to: Convertible Top Position Sensor Convertible Top Position Sensor
Components that are to be transferred later:
- clamps for hydraulic hoses
- clamps for cable harness
- wire for headlining




Adjust the screw on the new link system to the same measurement as the old.

Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure

Take care when installing the hydraulic hoses and cable harness. Transfer the clamps from the old link system.
Wait to install the hinge and all headlining until the roof assembly has been adjusted.

Adjust roof assembly. Refer to: Roof, adjusting Adjustments

Transfer wire for headlining from the old link system.
Install the hinge and all headlining.

Lubricate:
- catch that locks the front roof section to the middle
Use: High temperature grease, 1161778

Finishing
Drive the vehicle on the road and listen for noise.
Splash the vehicle with water and check for leakage.
