DESCRIPTION:
This document has been re-released to include C70 and C30.
A kit for the repair of the Key Integrated Remote (KIR) has been developed to address the following conditions;
Please note that the service kit should always be used to repair the conditions listed below instead of replacing the complete KIR when possible.
- Screw missing for remote halves
- The release pin is broken, or the spring is missing allowing the emergency key blade to fall out
- Intermittent operation of remote identified to be poor contact to the battery.This is caused by play between the circuit board inside the KIR and the cover.
NOTE: This may also result in the DIM message "EXTERNAL BATTERY-LOW VOLTAGE"

SERVICE:
If a customer reports any of the symptoms above please service the KIR as follows:
1. Removing key blade
NOTE: When working with the ignition key stand over a clean workbench. The ignition key contains a number of small components which can easily be lost
2. Discard used screw
3. Disassembling the ignition key.
Hold the ignition key with the buttons down and lift off the cover. REmove the battery from the cover and discard the cover.
NOTE: Do not discard the battery
4. Installing the battery
Install the battery with the + side towards the new cover
5. Remove the lock button.
Remove the lock button and spring. Discard them.
6. Install the lock button
7. Replacing insert
CAUTION: When working with electronics the body must be discharged by touching a grounded object before touching the circuit board.
Lift the circuit board out. Remove the rubber membrane and the plastic insert from the circuit board. Discard the plastic insert.
8. Installing the circuit board
Install the new green plastic insert on the circuit board and thread on the rubber membrane. Ensure that all buttons are correctly sealed in the ignition key. Press the electronic unit down into the ignition key.
9. Installing the cover
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the battery contact, it is important that the cover is installed at the front edge first and that care is taken so that the cover will be in the correct position when it is pressed down on the screwed side

Install the key blade.
NOTE: Check function of remote control and ignition switch.
