Checking the status

Note! This fault-tracing applies to both instrument lighting and the fuel tank filler cap.

- Ignition on.
Instrument lighting
Activate the instrument lighting.
Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.
The instrument lighting lights at full strength when activated.
The fault is permanent if the instrument lighting does not activate.
If the instrument lighting is activated, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i.e. the fault is intermittent.
Fuel tank filler cap
Activate fuel tank filler cap unlocking.
Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.
The fuel tank filler cap clicks when it is activated.
The fault is permanent if the unlocking of the fuel tank filler cap does not activate.
If fuel tank filler cap unlocking is activated, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i.e. the fault is intermittent.

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the component and wiring
Instrument lighting
Check the voltage on the light switch module (LSM) connector terminal #12 to the output on the central electronic module (CEM). The voltage must be approximately 12 V when the instrument lighting is activated.
Check the control signal cable. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #H1 (#24) and light switch module (LSM) connector terminal #12.
Remedy as necessary.
Fuel tank filler cap
Check the voltage on the fuel tank filler cap connector terminal #2 to the output on the central electronic module (CEM). The voltage must be approximately 12 V when fuel tank filler cap unlocking is activated.
Check the control signal cable. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #C2 (#2) and fuel tank filler cap connector terminal #2.
Remedy as necessary.
