INTRODUCTION
- Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.
- Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.
- Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.
- Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.
- In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

Note! Wiring A is for cars with an internal amplifier, which is located in the media player.Wiring B and C is for cars with an external amplifier, which is located on the right-hand front side of the rear seat.Cars with Performance Sound have internal amplifier.Cars with the High Performance and Premium Sound audio systems have external amplifier.There may be components in the accessories kit that are not used for this installation.
Note! These installation instructions apply to left-hand drive vehicles. When installing in a right-hand drive vehicle, the procedure is carried out on the opposite side and/or mirrored. Where the operation differs, right-hand versions are also displayed with text and images.
Note! When installing Velcro fasteners/tape the underlying surface must be kept at a temperature of at least +20° C (68°F).Place the manual for this accessory in a suitable place in the vehicle.
Preparations
- Set the ignition key to position 0.
- Open the glovebox.
- Pry off the panel in front of the center console. It is secured with two clips on each short side.
- Pull the panel away downwards.
- Apply tape to the center console to protect it during removal and installation of the glove compartment.
- Remove the panel.
- Detach the clip holding the vent from the glove compartment.
- Remove the rubber mat from the glovebox.
- Remove the five screws in the opening.
- Pull the glovebox straight back to release the two hidden clips at the upper edge.
- Remove the outer section of the glovebox.
- Unplug the connectors on the top.
- Remove the screws for the vent.
- Pull off the vent to the right and place to one side.
- Remove the clips at the rear edge of the soundproofing panel and remove it.
- Detach the surround from around the display and the media player. Press in the catch in one of the surround's upper corners using a small screwdriver. Carefully pry off the surround on the same side using a weatherstrip tool.
Note! Do not damage the panel and dashboard.
- Do the same on the other side.
Hint: If the panel is difficult to remove, press the panel on both sides again and repeat the procedure starting at the other side.
- Fold the surround backwards. Remove by pulling upwards.
- Remove the display with the infotainment control module (ICM). It is secured by two hidden clips.
Hint: Grip the control module with both hands and pull the control module straight out of the centre console.
- Unplug the connectors.
- Detach the panel by pulling it carefully sideways.
- Fold up the tunnel console's armrest and remove the cover.
- Remove the screws.
- Remove the front storage compartment by prying it off at the front edge using a weatherstrip tool and lifting it out.
- Remove the two screws along the front edge of the tunnel console.

- Carefully lift the catches at the leading edge of the tunnel console. Use special tool 9995919.

- At the same time pull the console backwards approximately 20 mm.
- Remove the screws.
Applies to cars with manual gearbox
- Remove the gear selector lever boot from the center console. First pry it off at the front edge using a weatherstrip tool and then unhook it at the rear edge.
- Remove the two screws.
- Remove the connector on the reverse of the center console.
- Remove the center console.
- Remove the two clips securing the cables to the media player by first pressing them to the sides and then pulling them away downwards.
Note! Be careful with the optic cables so that they are not bent or stretched.
- Remove the two screws from the bottom of the media player.
- Pull out the media player. Disconnect the connector on the reverse side.
Note! Note how the wiring is packed on the reverse. The fibre optic cables are easily damaged and must not be bent to a radius less than 25 mm (1").
