INTRODUCTION
- Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.
- Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.
- Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.
- Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.
- In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

Note! Cars with Performance Sound audio system have an internal amplifier that is located in the media player.Cars with High Performance and Premium Sound audio systems have an external amplifier, which is located on the right side by the rear seat.

- Steps 1-13 apply to all cars
- Steps 14-34 apply to cars with internal amplifier
- Steps 35-44 apply to cars with external amplifier
- Steps 45-50 apply to all cars
Note! Steps 14-44 show installation on a left-hand drive car. When installing on a right-hand drive car, the operations are performed on the opposite side and/or mirrored. Where the steps differ, the right-hand drive car is also shown with text and illustration.
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
Note! Wait at least three minutes before unplugging the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.
- Pull off the seat cushion for the rear seat, first at the rear edge where it is secured by one holder. Then at the front edge where it is secured by two holders.
- Remove the seat cushion.
- Fold the central arm rest forward.
- Remove the central arm rest by grasping each end and pulling upwards until it releases at the rear edge from the backrest's lugs (1).
- Then pull forwards until the holders (2) on the sides of the backrest have slid out of the corresponding cut-out (3) in the central arm rest.
- Fold the backrest forward.
- Remove the cover for the backrest's right-hand mounting.
- Remove the screw and the locking sleeve.
- Fold the backrest away from the right-hand mounting.
Note! The backrest may be securely attached.
- Pull it out from the mounting at the arm rest and remove it.
- Pull off the rubber molding at the rear edge of the right-hand door opening.
- Detach the B pillar panel at the rear edge by prying the sides using a weatherstrip tool until the two clips release.
- Unhook the safety clip from the panel.
- Angle out the panel at the lower edge, and then unhook it at the upper edge so that the upper clip releases.
- Remove the screw from the right-hand panel in the rear seat.
- Carefully pull off the panel from the body side. It is secured by eleven clips on the inside.
- Lift out the floor carpet.
- Remove the tailgate's sill panel by pulling it up until the four clips on the upper side and the eight catches at the lower edge release.
- Remove the clips at the rear edge of the right-hand rear side panel.
- Carefully pull the side panel off, starting at the front edge/upper edge and then straight back until all clips at the top edge have released.
- Fold the panel inwards. Release it from the anchorage eyelets and lift it out of the load floor support.
Applies to cars with internal amplifier
- Open the glovebox.
- Pry off the panel in front of the center console. It is secured with two clips on each short side.
- Pull the panel away downwards.
- Apply tape to the center console to protect it during removal and installation of the glove compartment.
- Remove the panel.
- Detach the clip holding the vent from the glove compartment.
- Remove the rubber mat from the glovebox.
- Remove the five screws in the opening.
- Pull the glovebox straight back to release the two hidden clips at the upper edge.
- Remove the outer section of the glovebox.
- Unplug the connectors on the top.
- Remove the screws for the vent.
- Pull off the vent to the right and place to one side.
- Detach the front sill molding by first pulling it backwards at the front edge and then straight up so that the clips release.
- Detach the rear sill molding by first pulling it up at the front edge, and then unhooking it at the rear edge.
- Fold the carpet to the right of the center console.
- Locate the relay and lift it out.
- Lift off the foam tape slightly and remove the connectors.
- Take the two cable harnesses from the kit and connect them to the disconnected connectors.
- Connect the new cable harnesses to the relay.
- Fold the tape back into place.
- Take the foam tape from the kit and cut it off in the middle. Tape one piece around each connector.
- Reinstall the relay.
- Fold back the carpet.
- Route the yellow cable on the impact pipe and continue along to the sill.
- Secure the cable using two tie straps
- Unscrew the clips holding the floor carpet.
- Fold the carpet to one side.
Note! Take care not to create folds in the carpet.
Applies to left-hand drive cars
- Route the wire from the bottom edge of the A-pillar, backward under the floor mat, under the seat raiser and on backward in the car.
Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Route the wire from the bottom edge of the A pillar, continue under the floor mat, and behind the large side panel.
Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Route the wire under the floor's insulation mat over to the right side.
Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Route the wire backwards in the car.
Applies to cars with external amplifier
- Disconnect the connector to the loudspeaker.
- Detach the clip for the cable harness.
Remove:
- the screw
- the five nuts
- the loudspeaker unit.
- Lift the unit straight out so that the bracket releases from the studs (1).
- Slide the unit forwards slightly (2), angle out the rear edge (3) and lift out.
- Remove the cable tie on the relay.
- Lift off the foam tape slightly and remove the connectors.
- Take the two cable harnesses from the kit and connect them to the disconnected connectors.
- Connect the new cable harnesses to the relay.
- Fold the tape back into place.
- Take the foam tape from the kit and cut it off in the middle. Tape one piece around each connector.
- Reinstall the relay on the amplifier using a large cable tie in the second hole from the bottom.
- Reposition the console with amplifier and tighten it.
- Route the cable harness from the relay by the car's standard cable harness, and backwards in the car. Fasten with two cable ties.
- Reinstall the loudspeaker unit and secure it.
- Reinstall the clip and connector.
Applies to all models
- Find the AEM control module.
- Unplug the large connector on the accessory electronic module (AEM) by pressing in the catch (1) and pulling the black handle (2) in the direction of the arrow until a click is heard.
- Disconnect the connector from the accessory electronic module.
- Remove the black catch holding the black switch in place in the connector by pulling in the direction of the arrow.
- Remove the black switch by inserting a pointed object in the hole on the other shorter side. Press the switch out.
Note! The numerical markings on the top and bottom of the black terminal pin are extremely small, so be careful when installing the cable.
- Connect routed yellow (Y) cable to terminal 11 (telemute) in the black connector.
- Reinstall the black switch in the connector. Lock into place using the catch.
- Press the connector into the Accessory Electronic module. Secure using the black locking handle.
- Place the excess cable harness under the floor's insulation panel.
- Reinstall removed parts in reverse order. Tightening torque M8 bolt in backrest: 15 Nm.
