Information about symptom fault-tracing
The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are included in a larger fault-tracing for the symptom Starter motor not running.
Add the symptom and fault trace according to Checking the start system.
If this has already been carried out, continue fault tracing.

Yes - Checking the status

No - DONE

Checking the status
- Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
The status of the steering column lock must be changed to locked.
- Insert the key in the ignition switch.
The status of the steering column lock must be changed to unlocked.
If read-out status is not okay or is invalid, the control module needs to be replaced.









Is the status OK?

Yes - Checking the power supply

No - Replacing the Steering Column Lock Module (SCL)

- Ignition off.

Hint: The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be stored if the power supply in the central electronic module (CEM) has been below 8 V for a certain time.

Check the battery voltage. The battery voltage must be approximately 12 V.
Check all power supply connections to the central electronic module (CEM) from the engine compartment fusebox.
For information about wiring and fuses: see Service Manual, Wiring diagram.
Check the wiring. Check for intermittent open-circuits and short-circuits to ground.
Remedy as necessary.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the control module

Replacing the control module
If no other fault has been found, the fault has probably been caused by an internal fault in the central electronic module (CEM). The control module should be replaced in this case.

Check the operation of the steering column lock. Insert the ignition key in the ignition switch.
The steering wheel lock must be unlocked.
