Pinion seal coupling (AOC), replacing

Removal

Removing the exhaust system and propeller shaft
Remove the propeller shaft and the exhaust system. See: Final Drive, Replacing.

Removing the flange




Remove the flange nut. Use counterhold 999 5652 Counterh. 999 5652 Counterh. together with adapter 999 7058 Adapter 999 7058 Adapter. Mark up the flange in relation to the end of the shaft.
Place a container under the active on demand coupling (AOC).




Remove the flange. If the flange is stuck, use puller 999 5893 Puller 999 5893 Puller.





Note! For cars with a vibration damper on the Active on Demand Coupling (AOC) flange. Use 55 mm long screws for the puller. The oil pump may be damaged if too long screws are used.

Check that the sealing surfaces of the flange are free of faults. Replace the flange with a new one if there is a fault.

Removing the seal




Remove the Active on Demand Coupling (AOC). Use puller 999 5069 EXTRACTOR 999 5069 Extractor.
Thoroughly check that no seal residue remains.

Installation

Installing the seal




Lubricate the new seal. Use oil for the active on demand coupling (AOC).
Use drift 999 7025 Drift Haldex coupling 999 7025 Drift Haldex Coupling when installing. Tap in the seal until the head of the drift is against the active on demand coupling (AOC) housing.

Installing the flange




Install the flange for the active on demand coupling (AOC) according to the previous mark (if the old flange is used).
Install a new nut for the shaft/flange. Use counterhold 999 5652 Counterh. 999 5652 Counterh. with adapter 999 7058 Adapter 999 7058 Adapter.
Tighten the nut. See: Tightening Torque

Installing the propeller shaft and exhaust system
Install the propeller shaft and the exhaust system. See: Final Drive, Replacing.

Filling and checking the oil level




Top up and check the oil level in the active on demand coupling (AOC), the front level plug.
Use oil. See: Oil Pump Active On Demand Coupling (AOC), Replacing
Tighten the level plug according to: Tightening Torque
