Boot gear selector, replacing

Removal

Removing the gear selector lever boot panel with the boot from the center console




Hold the boot and pull it straight up.
Bend the panel up and pull backward.

Removing the locking sleeve




Lift the boot up over the gear selector lever to access the locking sleeve.
Remove the locking sleeve. Press in the two catches under the boot. Pull the sleeve downwards.

Removing gear selector lever knob





Note! Considerable force is required to remove it.

Pull the boot down.
Hold the gear selector lever knob with both hands. Pull the knob straight up.
Lift the boot and the panel out of the way.

Replacing the boot for the gear selector lever




Remove the old boot from the panel.
Install the new boot in the panel. Press it into place properly.

Note! The gear selector knob may be reused a maximum of four times





Note! Use a new locking sleeve (so that the fasteners engage correctly).

Install the boot with the panel over the gear selector lever.
Press the gear selector lever knob down until it locks.
Grasp the boot and the locking sleeve (positioned under the boot). Pull it straight up on the gear selector lever knob so that it locks.

Installing the center console panel




Fold up the panel. Slide it forwards so it locks. Press down the panel into the center console.
