Control Arm Front, Replacing






Control arm front, replacing

Special tools:

Removing the ball joint from the control arm
Remove the ball joint from the control arm. Refer to: Ball joint, replacing Service and Repair

Removing the drive shaft




Remove the screw for the drive shaft. Use a screwdriver as a counterhold on the brake disc.
Remove the drive shaft from the hub. Knock the drive shaft out using a brass drift.
Fold aside the spring strut.

Removing the splash guard




Remove the splash guard under the engine.

Removing the control arm




Applies to the right-hand side only:
Remove the hose for the EVAP canister and the fuel line for the engine block heater (where applicable) from their mountings. Move the hose and fuel line to one side.




Only applies to cars with 4T65EV transmissions when removing the left-hand control arm:
Remove the screw for the front engine pad. Lift the engine approximately 10mm using a mobile jack to remove the rear screw on the front mounting for the control arm.

Note! Position the mobile jack so that it is raised towards the front right mounting screw for the lower torque rod bracket.




Applies to all models:

Remove:
- the two screws
- the screw and nut
- the control arm.

Tightening torque
For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications.

Installing the control arm

Install:
- the control arm
- the screw and nut
- the two screws.

Note! Use new screws.

For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications
Only applies to cars with 4T65EV transmissions when removing the left-hand control arm:
Lower the engine. Install the screw for the front engine pad. M10.
Applies to the right-hand side only:
Install the hose for the EVAP canister and the fuel line for the engine block heater (if applicable) in their mountings.

Installing the drive shaft




Install the drive shaft in the hub.
Install a new screw. Use a screwdriver as a counterhold.
For tightening torques, see Specifications Tightening Torque.

Installing the nut for the ball joint
Install the nut. M12.

Installing the splash guard
Install the splashguard under the engine. M8.

Finishing
Install the wheel. See Installing wheels Service and Repair
