Climate Control Exhaust Gas Sensor: Testing and Inspection






Air quality sensor, checking

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removing the air quality sensor
Remove the plenum chamber. See Cowl, replacing Service and Repair.

Checking the air quality sensor
Start the car engine with the ECC automatic button in the ON position.




Spray a little rust solvent or windshield washer fluid from a spray bottle into the opening for the air quality sensor.

Note! Use only a small amount of rust solvent or windshield washer fluid.




If the air quality sensor and the other electronics are fault free, the damper for the air intake should close very soon.
If the air quality sensor is fault free, the damper for the air intake will gradually open after approximately 15 seconds.

Installing the air quality sensor
Wipe away any excess rust solvent or windshield washer fluid around the sensor.
Install the plenum chamber. See Cowl, replacing Service and Repair.

Note! Cover the air intake to the passenger compartment when the engine compartment or the car is being treated with wax or preserving agent.
