Heat exchanger, replacing

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Preparations
Remove:
- the heating loops in the engine compartment. Use special tool115 8957 HOSE PLIERS 115 8957 Hose Pliers (pliers)
- the seal and the plate.
Removing the heat exchanger
Remove:
- the climate control system. See Climate unit, replacing Climate Unit, Replacing
- the tie strap for the pipe
- the mountings for the pipe
- the screw for the heat exchanger.
Detach the pipes from the heat exchanger and drain off the coolant.
Remove the 3 screws for the central electrical unit for the fan housing.
Fold out and remove the central electrical unit.
Pull out the heat exchanger from the central electrical unit.
Installing the heat exchanger
Carefully position the heat exchanger in the central electrical unit.
Check that the seals are not leaking.
Screw the heat exchanger into place.
Install:
- the seals for the central electrical unit on the fan housing. Screw into place
- the pipes.
Note! Use new O-rings.
Hook the pipes into place.
Install:
- the climate control system. See Climate unit, replacing Climate Unit, Replacing
- the seals and the plate
- the heating loops in the engine compartment.
Start the engine and the heating system.
Fill the cooling system with coolant.
Check that the pipe connectors do not leak.
