Dashboard, replacing

Preparations
Move the seats back.




Remove the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

Removing the dashboard





Remove:
- The A-post panels. See Panel A-post, replacing Panel A-Post, Replacing
- the end covers on both sides.
- the soundproofing panels. See Soundproofing panel, replacing Soundproofing Panel, Replacing
- the courtesy lighting. See Courtesy lighting, front, replacing Courtesy Lighting, Front, Replacing
- the on-board diagnostic (OBD) connector
- the steering wheel. See Steering wheel, replacing Steering Wheel, Replacing
- the combined instrument panel. See Driver information module (DIM), replacing Driver Information Module (DIM), Replacing
- gear selector assembly and steering wheel module (SWM)
- the center console. See Center console, replacing Service and Repair
- the dashboard environment panel. See Climate control module (CCM), replacing Service and Repair
- the bracket for the RTI (road traffic information) / loudspeaker. See Central loudspeaker, replacing Central Loudspeaker, Replacing
- the connector for the hazard warning signal flasher.




Lift up the sun sensor.
Disconnect the connector.




Unhook the cable for the parking brake at the cable terminal by the release handle.




Disconnect the cable for the gear selector lever lock.




Detach the gear selector assembly (four screws). Turn the gear selector assembly a quarter turn with the control downwards towards the driver's seat.





Remove:
- the glove compartment. See Glove compartment, replacing Service and Repair
- the connector for the passenger airbag module.
Remove the lower mounting for the passenger airbag module (SRS).
Remove the 2 screws.




Remove the 9 screws.
Lift out dashboard.






Installing the dashboard

Note! For tightening torques, see [1][2]Body and Frame

Lift the dashboard.
Pull the connector for the sun sensor out through the hole in the dashboard.

Note! Check that no wiring is trapped at the cable ducts.

Install:
- the dashboard
- the 9 M6 screws. Tighten
- the lower mounting for the passenger airbag module
- the 2 M6 screws. Tighten
- the sun sensor
- the connector for the hazard warning signal flasher
- the cable for the parking brake. Hook the cable into place at the release handle
- the on-board diagnostic (OBD) connector
- the combined instrument panel. See Driver information module (DIM), replacing Driver Information Module (DIM), Replacing
- gear selector assembly and steering wheel module (SWM)
- the steering wheel. See Steering wheel, replacing Steering Wheel, Replacing
- the bracket for the RTI (road traffic information) / loudspeaker. See Central loudspeaker, replacing Central Loudspeaker, Replacing
- the dashboard environment panel. See Climate control module (CCM), replacing Service and Repair
- the gear selector assembly
- the 4 M8 screws. Tighten
- the mechanical cable for the gear selector lever knob
- the center console. See Center console, replacing Service and Repair
- the courtesy lighting. See Courtesy lighting, front, replacing Courtesy Lighting, Front, Replacing
- the end covers on both sides
- The A-post panels. See Panel A-post, replacing Panel A-Post, Replacing.

Finishing
Check the SRS (supplemental restraint system). See Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Supplementary Restraint System (SRS), Inspection.
