Checking Satellite Reception
Checking satellite reception
Checking Aerial module (ATM)
Certain frequencies on the radio can interfere with GPS-reception. In turn, this may lead to the navigation system indicating the wrong position or providing incorrect guidance. There are three radio frequencies that may lead to this interference. These are:
- FM 87.8 MHz.
- FM 94.3 MHz.
- FM 101.8 MHz.
To check if the problem is in the Aerial module (ATM), check as follows.
Hint: Perform the following check with a frequency, set on the radio, that is not close to the ones indicated above. Then use the check for comparison.
- Set the frequency to be investigated on the radio.
- Wait awhile so that the GPS-reception has an opportunity to stabilize.
- Check the number of satellites by clicking the symbol for VCT2000.
- If the number of satellites is less than the control case, then Aerial module (ATM) shall be replaced.
Perform the test for the three stated frequencies.

Checking symptoms
Check if the navigation system indicates wrong position, guides in an incorrect way, or if a similar symptom is found on any of the radio frequencies.
- FM 87.8 MHz.
- FM 94.3 MHz.
- FM 101.8 MHz.
If there is any symptom in the vehicle at these radio frequencies but not at others, the GPS-receiver shall be replaced.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Check that the symptom is gone at each radio frequency.
Is the symptom still present?
Yes - Information
No - FAULT FOUND

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit Fault-tracing
No - Attempt New Test
