Preparations
Ignition off.
Remove the key from the ignition switch.
Note! After the key has been removed: Wait one minute before starting work.
Removing the cover from the antenna module
Remove:
- the headlining. See Headlining, replacing Service and Repair
- the antenna module.
Note! The antenna module is PUR bonded in the roof and must be cut out. This is extremely difficult using a knife, there is a risk of damage to the paintwork around the sun roof. Use a wire instead for removal.
Warning! Use protective goggles and protective gloves.
Cut off four meters of piano wire.
Press the wire puller, special tool 951 2337 Spike 951 2337 Spike , into the rear right-hand corner.
Pull in both ends of the wire approximately 45 cm.
Form the wire into a loop around the window and pull in the excess wire from one end.
Check which wire end moves so that they can be told apart.
Because there are locating pins at (1), the wire must be pulled in the direction arrowed.
Secure the wire going to the left using welding pliers.
Secure the wire end to be winched to a puller bar (see the illustration). Attach a short extension and a torx wrench or similar to the puller bar.
Tension the wire by winding it onto the puller handle.
Break the puller handle so that the wire is pulled into the car. Use the holes around the panel as holding points.
Wind in the wire up to the right-hand locating pin. There will be an obvious obstacle when the correct point has been reached.
Release the wire from the ratchet handle. Feed the wire in on the inside of the locating pin.
Secure the wire again and continue winding in until the hatch releases.
Installing the cover panel for the antenna module
The method for installing the cover panel is the same as for replacing windows. See Installing the rear windshield Service and Repair.
Clean the area on the panel to which PUR adhesive is to be applied using cleaner-H (black cap).
Apply PUR rim activator (blue cork) to the section of the panel where the adhesive will be applied.
Note! PUR rim activator does not need to be applied if the old panel is reused within eight hours and there is still adhesive on it.
Apply PUR adhesive to the cover panel or to the body flange.
Press the panel into place by hand.
Secure the panel using tape.
