Gear selector assembly, replacement

Removal

Preparatory work

Remove the center console. Center Console, Replacing
Remove the gear lever knob. Boot Gear Selector Lever, Replacing

Removing the gear cable from the ball coupling




Remove the gear cable from the ball coupling.
Use puller999 7071 Puller 999 7071 Puller.

Hint: Turn the puller's bolt counterclockwise to detach the gear cable.

Removing the gear selector assembly





Remove:
- the connector
- the bolts for the gear selector assembly.
Lift up the gear selector assembly and turn it so that the lower gear cable is accessible.

Removing the gear cable from the ball coupling and gear selector assembly




Remove the gear cable from the ball coupling.
Use puller999 7071 Puller 999 7071 Puller.

Hint: Turn the puller's bolt counterclockwise to detach the gear cable.

Prize up the catches (1) carefully and push the cable sleeves upwards on both gear cables.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque Tightening Torque.

Installing the gear cables and gear selector assembly





Install:
- the gear cables to the levers on the gear selector assembly. Press in manually
- the cable sleeves to the gear selector assembly
- the gear selector assembly to the body (M8)
- the connector to the gear selector assembly.

Finishing
Install the gear lever knob. Boot Gear Selector Lever, Replacing
