Boot gear selector lever, replacing

Removing the panel for the gear selector lever boot from the center console




Remove the rear edge of the panel Use a weatherstrip tool.
Then carefully detach the front edge.

Removing the lock bracket from the gear selector




Lift the boot over the gear selector lever to access the lock bracket.

Note! The bracket is integrated in the boot.

Remove the lock bracket.
Press in the two catches under the boot. Pull the sleeve downwards.

Removing gear selector lever knob





Note! Considerable force is required to remove it.

Hold the gear selector lever knob with both hands.
Jerk the gear selector lever knob straight upwards.
Pull the boot down so that the support ring is visible.

Removing the support ring from the gear selector




Pull the support ring apart slightly. Pull it straight up.

Removing the panel and boot




Remove the panel and the boot.

Replacing the boot, gear selector lever




Remove the old boot from the panel.
Install the new boot in the panel. Press it into place properly.

Installing the boot for the gear selector lever




Install the boot and panel on the gear selector lever.

Installing the support ring on the gear selector lever





Note! The chamfered edge must be upwards. The groove must be facing backwards.

Install the support ring on the gear selector lever.

Installing the gear selector lever knob for the gear selector lever




Press the gear selector lever knob down over the support ring until it locks.

Installing the holder/boot for the gear selector lever knob




Pull the panel upwards slightly towards the gear selector lever knob.
Pull up the bracket and the gear selector lever knob. Turn the bracket slightly so that the guide (2) inside the bracket is correctly positioned on the slot on the gear selector knob (1).
Pull the bracket upwards so that it locks. Check that the bracket is secure on the gear selector lever knob.

Installing the panel in the center console




Angle the panel downwards. Press the panel into place in the center console.
