Shift shaft seal, replacing

Special tools:

Preparatory work

Removing the air cleaner (ACL) housing




Remove the air cleaner housing with connections.

Removal

Removing the transmission cable




Remove the shift cable at the shift lever using 999 7077 Jimmy bar 999 7077 Jimmy Bar.

Removing the shift lever




Press out the spring pin using a pressing tool. Use 999 7221 Press tool 999 7221 Press Tool. Use the long pressure pin.
Remove the lever.

Removing the seal




Carefully tap down the tool (999 7219 Extractor 999 7219 Extractor ) in the bottom of the shift shaft.
Tighten the bolt on the puller.
Screw in a new M12 bolt in the top of the puller until the seal releases.
Remove the seal.

Caution! Clean away any rust from the shaft.

Use grinding cloth 951 1024 or a very fine emery cloth to clean the shaft.
Clean around the shaft with isopropyl alcohol and blow it clean with compressed air.

Installation

Installing the seal




Install a new clamp. Use 999 7220 Drift 999 7220 Drift.

Installing the shift lever




Install the shift lever. Press in the spring pin. Use 999 7221 Press tool 999 7221 Press Tool. Use the short spring pin.

Finishing

Installing the air cleaner (ACL) housing




Install the air cleaner housing.
