Top panel, Geartronic, replacing

Removal

Removing the top panel




Hold the boot and pull it straight up. Angle the boot backwards.

Removing the gear selector knob
Remove the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing, 4T65EV-GT Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing and Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing, 4T65EV-GT Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.

Removing the center console
Remove the center console. See Replacing the parking brake lever Replacing the Parking Brake Lever.

Removing the gear selector assembly stop





Note! On a number of cars the gear selector assembly stop is secured with another two rivets. This gear selector assembly stop must be replaced with a new gear selector stop assembly (which has a yellow lock pin).

Drill out the rivets.
Knock out the blind rivets using a drift.
Press in the four catches on the side. Pull the gear selector assembly stop straight up.

Removing the printed circuit board from the gear selector assembly stop




Press the catches locking the holder for the printed circuit board.
Angle out the holder and the printed circuit board.
Transfer the entire holder when replacing the gear selector assembly stop.
Alternatively: Detach the printed circuit board from the 2 catches on the holder and pull the printed circuit board straight up.

Removing the boot and the switches from the gear selector assembly




Remove the wiring from the clips.
Disconnect the rear connector from the gear selector assembly.
Pull the front connector out of the gear selector assembly.
Separate the connectors.
Angle off the top panel and the boot.

Removing and transferring the boot from the top panel




Press the catches with a screwdriver. At the same time press the top of the boot.
Replace the top panel assembly.

Installation

Installing the boot
Install the boot on the top panel and press it into place.

Installing the printed circuit board on the gear selector assembly stop




Angle the holder into the gear selector assembly stop. Lock it into place.
Alternatively: Install the printed circuit board in the cut-out in the holder and lock it into place. Reinstall the holder.

Installing the gear selector assembly stop on the gear selector assembly





Install:
- the gear selector assembly stop and press it into place in the gear selector assembly
- the yellow lock pin.
Check that the gear selector assembly stop is securely in place.
Connect the connectors.
Connect the rear connector to the gear selector assembly. Angle the front connector into the gear selector assembly.
Secure the wiring to the gear selector assembly.

Installing the top panel

Install:
- the locking sleeve for the boot above the gear selector
- the top panel.

Installing the gear selector knob and lock bracket
Install the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing, 4T65EV-GT Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing. Install the lock bracket. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing, 4T65EV-GT Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.

Installing the center console
Install the center console. See Replacing the parking brake lever Replacing the Parking Brake Lever.
