Gear selector lever knob, automatic





The illustration shows the gear selector boot and panel for the Geartronic automatic gearbox, but the instructions apply to all automatic gearboxes
- Insert a narrow screwdriver in between the boot and the gear selector lever knob to gain access to the locking sleeve
- Carefully bend the screwdriver forwards to release the locking sleeve from the gear selector lever knob.

Note! The locking sleeve can be re-used if it is not damaged.




- Remove the gear selector lever knob as follows:
- Straddle the centre console. Pull the gear selector lever knob straight up with force. Use both hands.




- Take the new gear selector lever knob from the kit
- Press down the new knob securely onto the lever so that it locks. If necessary, use a plastic mallet and a shim to carefully knock the knob onto the gear lever
- Try to pull the gear selector lever knob. Check that the function of the catch operates in its various positions.




Note! The gear selector lever knob may be re-used a maximum of 4 times

Pull up the panel with the gear selector lever boot towards the gear selector lever knob
- Pull up the boot from beneath so that the locking for the gear selector lever knob is free.




Note! The notch on the locking sleeve must be facing forwards so that it aligns in the guide on the gear selector lever knob.

Slide the locking sleeve and boot up to the guide on the knob. Pull the locking sleeve up so that it locks on one side (1)
- Press hard on the side of the locking on the locking sleeve (2). At the same time pull the other side of the locking sleeve up towards the boot so that it locks
Note! Check that the boot is correctly positioned. Adjust if necessary.

- Lower the panel. Press the panel into place in the centre console.
