Sealing ring, crown wheel shaft, left-hand side, replace

Preparatory work

Removing bevel gear
Remove the bevel gear. Bevel Gear, Replacing.

Removal

Removing the sealing ring




Position the bevel gear on a workbench. Support the gear using a wooden block.
Use extractor 999 7086 Puller 999 7086 Puller together with spacer ring 7086-1. Knock the seal towards the housing using the extractor sleeve.
Remove the seal using the impact driver handle of the extractor.
Check thoroughly that no seal residue remains.

Draining the bevel gear oil




Position the bevel gear over a container. Remove the level plug. Allow the oil to run out through the bearing. Wipe away spilt oil from the sealing ring seat on the bevel gear. Use a lint-free rag.

Installation

Installing the sealing ring




Install sleeve 7087-1 in the end of the shaft. Lubricate the lip of the new sealing ring. Use grease 116 1241-3 (80g). Position the seal on the sleeve.




Knock the seal into the bevel gear. Use drift 999 7087 Drift 999 7087 Drift together with spacer ring 7086-1. Ensure that the tool goes towards the bevel gear housing. Check that sleeve 7087-1 is removed with the tool.

Finishing

Filling with oil
