Tie rod, replacing

Removing the tie rod




Raise the car.

Remove
- the wheel
- the mounting for the parking brake cable on the tie rod
- the inner and outer tie rod retaining screws
- the tie rod.

Installing tie rod





Install
- the tie rod
- the inner and outer retaining screws for the tie rod.Do not tighten yet
- the mounting for the parking brake cable.

Apply tensioner999 5659 Tension caliper 999 5659 Tension Caliper. See Tensioner, instructions for use, AW55-50/51SN, 4T65EV-GT Tensioner, Instructions For Use.
Tighten the outer screw for the tie rod. Tighten to 80 Nm.
Tighten the eccentric screw and nut. Tighten to 100 Nm.
Remove the tensioner and mountings.
Install the wheel. See Installing wheels Service and Repair.
Align the wheels. See Wheel alignment, checking / adjusting Service and Repair.
