Safety Information
NOTE: Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Volvo Cars strongly recommends that all rescue personnel, in the interest of their own and vehicle occupant safety, become familiar with the type and location of particular SRS components for each Volvo model described herein, and heed all recommendations for safeguarding against accidental or incidental deployment both during and after rescue.
General information
If an SRS equipped vehicle is on fire: SRS components are designed to deploy under conditions of excessive heat. The system is designed to deploy the SRS components when the temperature in the gas generator reaches 230 degrees C (450 degrees F). It should be noted that it takes a serious fire to deploy the SRS components, which means that the SRS components will not deploy in all types of fire.
NOTE: The SIPS bags in the front seats have either mechanical or electrical systems. Electrical SIPS systems can be deactivated by disconnecting the battery.
Mechanical SIPS bags CANNOT be deactivated so care must be taken not to impact the sensor located in the base of both front seats. See model descriptions for mechanical or electrical system and component location.
C70 Convertibles (-05) are equipped with ROPS located behind the rear seat headrests. ROPS is deployed by a mechanical spring and contains no pyrotechnics.
C70s (06-) are equipped with ROPS located behind the rear seat head restraints. ROPS is deployed via an electronic signal from the SRS control module and contains pyrotechnics.

The solenoid valve and safety valve are integrated into one unit. The solenoid valves (one on each tank) close when the engine is switched off, when the vehicle is running on gasoline and when the collision sensors are deployed.
NOTE: The pressure in the pipe remains.
The safety valves (one on each tank) are deployed at temperatures up to approximately 110 degrees C. Continuously spray downwards until the tanks are empty.
The stainless steel gas pipe is in the fuel line rail in the illustration May be pressurized up to 260 bar.
Location of Bi-fuel components LPG
Bi-fuel system LPG = Propane, Butane (heavier than air)
LPG components Bi-fuel:

The solenoid valve and safety valve are integrated into one unit. The solenoid valve closes when the engine is switched off, when the vehicle is running on gasoline and when the collision sensor are deployed.
NOTE: The pressure in the pipe remains.
The safety valve deploys at 27 bar. The valve sprays downwards behind the right-hand rear wheel towards the ground until the tank is empty.
The stainless steel gas pipe is in the fuel line rail in the illustration Contains liquid LPG at pressures of approximately 8 bar.
