Function test




- Ignition on
- Depress the brake pedal.
Check if the gear selector can be moved from gear position P.

Could the gear selector be moved?

Yes - No Fault Found

- Ignition off.
Check if the mechanical cable for the ignition switch interlock requires adjustment. See Cable key interlock, replacing Cable Key Interlock, Replacing.
Remedy as necessary.

Was the mechanical cable correctly adjusted?

Yes - Checking the gear-shift position sensor

No - Verification

- Ignition on
- Read off the position of the gear-shift position sensor
Note! Select the correct gear selector assembly from the list.

Check the gear-shift position sensor by moving the gear selector several times to all the gear positions.
The selected position must be the same as that displayed in VIDA. If the display shows an undefined position (e.g. OR) when a specific gear is selected, the transmission cable needs adjusting.

Note! An undefined position may be displayed between the fixed gear positions. This is not a fault.

If the mechanical cable is incorrectly adjusted, check that the transmission cable is correctly installed in the mounting on the transmission.
The transmission cable adjustment should sit upwards.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.




- Ignition on.
- Gear selector in position P.
Try moving the gear selector to another position without depressing the brake pedal. It should not be possible to move the gear selector.
Depress the brake pedal and try moving the gear selector to another position. It should now be possible to move the gear selector.

Was the function OK?

Yes - Verification complete
