Dashboard, replacing
Remove the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.
Remove:
- the A-post panel. See Panel, A-post, replacing Panel, A-Post, Replacing
- the sound insulation from the left and right sides. See Soundproofing panel, replacing Soundproofing Panel, Replacing
- the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.
Hint: Loosen the cables for the ignition switch interlock so that the gear selector can be moved freely.
- steering wheel module / steering wheel / steering column covers. Service and Repair, Steering Wheel and Service and Repair.
- the combined instrument panel. See Driver information module (DIM), replacing Driver Information Module (DIM), Replacing.
- the two screws under the combined instrument panel (3 and 4).
- the cover on the short side of the dashboard (driver's side):
Snaps off.
- the two screws under the cover (1 and 2).
- the RTI screen. See Display screen / loudspeaker, RTI (road traffic information), replacing Service and Repair or
- the central loudspeakers. See Central loudspeaker, replacing Central Loudspeaker, Replacing or
- the grille if there is neither RTI or a central loudspeaker.
- one screw under the RTI, loudspeaker or grille (5).
- the hazard warning switch.
- the connector for the sun sensor.
- the radio and car-phone. See Radio cassette player, replacing Radio Cassette Player, Replacing.
- the two screws under the dashboard environment panel (1 and 2).
- the cover on the short side (passenger side):
Snaps off.
- the two screws under the cover (5 and 6).
- the glove compartment. See Glove compartment, replacing Service and Repair
- the SRS connector.
- the two screws for the SRS bracket (3 and 4).
- the dashboard.
Hint: This is considerably easier if two people are lifting the dashboard in or out of the car.
Install:
In reverse order.
