Removal
Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Preparations
Raise the car.
Remove:
- left rear wheel
- the exhaust system from the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) and backward. See Exhaust system, replacing Service and Repair.
Applies only to All-wheel drive (AWD):
Remove the propeller shaft from the viscous coupling.
Removing the parking brake cable
- Remove the parking brake cable from the tie rod and the sub-frame on both sides.
Lowering the rear suspension
- Remove the plastic nut for the fender liner. Bend the fender liner out of the way
- Drill out the heat deflector plate rivet on the sub-frame left rear bushing.
Position a lifting table under the rear suspension.
Remove:
- the two front mountings for the sub-frame
- the sub-frame brackets screws
- the brake hose mounting stays from mountings on the brackets
- the brake pipes from the plastic clips
- the mounting for the fuel filter on the right bracket.
Lower the rear suspension carefully.
Removing the bushing
- Mark up the bushing position in relation to the subframe
- Install the hydraulic cylinder. Use tool 951 2923 Hydraulic hole cylinder 951 2923 Hydraulic Hole Cylinder with 999 7054 Adapter incl. 2x MC6C M6X12 999 7054 Adapter Incl. 2x MC6C M6X12 , 999 7032 Sleeve 999 7032 Sleeve , 999 7040 Drift 999 7040 Drift and 999 7034 Connecting rod M12X400 999 7034 Connecting Rod M12X400
- Tighten until it clicks and the steel sleeve releases
- Pull the bushing out.
Note! Center 999 7040 Drift 999 7040 Drift carefully to prevent damaging the sub-frame.
Installation
Installing the bushing
- Install the hydraulic cylinder. Use tool 951 2923 Hydraulic hole cylinder 951 2923 Hydraulic Hole Cylinder with 999 7054 Adapter incl. 2x MC6C M6X12 999 7054 Adapter Incl. 2x MC6C M6X12 , 999 7043 Drift 999 7043 Drift , 999 5082 Socket 999 5082 Socket and 999 7037 Connecting rod M14X400 999 7037 Connecting Rod M14X400
- Install the bushing according to the previous markings
- Pull the bushing.
Installing the rear suspension
Carefully raise the rear suspension.
Warning! Always check that the car does not lift from the lifting arms of the car lift when working with the lifting table.
Install:
- the parking brake cable on the tie rod and the sub-frame on both sides
- the screws for the front mountings on the sub-frame (install the screws through the brackets). Tighten all the front mountings. Tighten to 80 Nm
- the brake pipes in the plastic clips on the brackets
- the screw for the fuel filter bracket. Tighten to 24 Nm
- the screw for the brake line mounting stay. Tighten to 24 Nm.
Remove the lifting table.
Finishing
Applies only to All-wheel drive (AWD):
Install the propeller shaft on the viscous coupling / Active on Demand Coupling.
Applies to all models:
Install:
- the exhaust system. See Exhaust system, replacing Service and Repair
- the left rear wheel.
Carry out wheel alignment.
Check/adjust the wheel alignment. See: Wheel alignment, checking / adjusting Service and Repair.
