Installation kit for the radio / cassette player
- Turn the ignition key to position 0
- Cars with manual transmissions: Remove the ignition key.
Note! Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Applies to S60, V70 (00-) and S80
- Remove the transport protection from the centre console.
Applies to S60 and V70 (00-)
- Move the gear selector lever back as far as possible
- Remove the panel in front of the gear selector. First pry off the panel using a weatherstrip tool.

- Detach the panel around the gear selector lever. First press in the catches at the front edge. First lift at the front edge and then at the rear edge.

- Remove the two screws in the dashboard environment panel.
Applies to the S80
- Remove the panel (1) and the boot at the rear edge. Carefully pry up using a weatherstrip tool.

- Shift the gear selector lever to its rearmost position. Twist the panel (1) and the boot to the left
- Remove the screws (2) from the dashboard environment panel.
Applies to all models
- Angle the dashboard environment panel outwards so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers between the centre console and the side of the dashboard environment panel
- Pull the dashboard environment panel downward maintaining the same angle. Remove the dashboard environment panel. Because the panel is well secured, some force is required to detach the panel
- Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the A/C panel. Place the panel to one side.

- Remove the screws (1) from the bracket for the radio
- Remove the bracket for the radio (2) including the centre console locker.

- Remove the existing centre console locker from the bracket for the radio. First press in the catches on the top and underneath. Remove the centre console locker from the bracket.

- Install the radio in the existing bracket. Tighten the radio using the five new screws and washers.

- Reinstall the centre console locker. Alternatively the keypad for the car-phone at the side of the radio. Ensure that the catches (1) for the centre console locker engage in the corresponding hooks (2) on the radio.

- Slide the radio and the bracket up to the cut out for the radio
- Connect the connectors for the power supply, loudspeakers, aerial and any other units
- Insert the radio in the cut out
- Slide the radio up so that the groove in the top of the bracket goes around the upper edge of the radio cut out. At the same time press the lower mounting for the bracket towards the lower edge of the radio cut out
- Install the screws in the lower mountings. Tighten.
Applies to all models
- Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel. Reinstall the dashboard environment panel
- Reinstall the panel around gear selector lever. Where appropriate also install the panel in front of the gear selector lever.
Applies to cars that have not previously had a radio installed
- Remove the cover (1) from the fuse holder on the left face of the dashboard
- Install a 5A fuse in position no. 15 and a 20 A fuse in position no. 16
- Reinstall the fuse holder cover.
- Turn the ignition key to position II
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
- Program the software according to the service information in VIDA.
