Checking the head restraint display (one screen functions)

Fault-tracing information
If only one display screen functions the fault may be due to:
- Power supply
- Contact resistance in the connectors
- Open-circuit in the cable between the display screen/head restraint and the Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE)
- Open-circuit in the cable between the Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE) and the connector under the rear seat (Y-shaped cable)
- Damaged rear seat entertainment module (RSE).
- Damaged display screen.

Checking for the fault
Check that the fault occurs regardless of sound or screen source (DVD, TV (if installed), AUX).

Checking screen head rest
Fault-tracing can be minimized by swapping the left and right-hand screens over. Check to see if the fault remains after the transfer.

Note! Ensure that the system is switched off before disconnecting any connector.

Hint: It is unusual for a screen to break.

Checking the settings
Check that the contrast is set correctly via the DISPLAY menu.
Check that the display screen has not been switched off via the remote control menu system SCREEN OFF.

Select the non-functioning display screen:
1. Left-hand display screen
2. Right-hand display screen.





Select one of the above options.

Checking the control module connector
There is probably a fault in the wiring between the display screen and the control module or in the middle connector.
Check the left-hand picture signal. Check the cable between the control module terminal #A7 and display screen terminal #7.
Check the ground signal to left screen, that is, the cable between the control module #A8 and the screen #8.

Checking feed to screen
Check the supply to the display screen. Supply is carried via a cable between control module terminal #A6 and display screen terminal #6. The ground terminal is from control module terminal #A3 and display screen terminal #3.

Checking the lighting for the control module
If the surround lighting for the display screen does not function. Carry out the above checks on another cable.
Check the supply to the lighting. Check the cable between control module terminal #A10 and display screen terminal #10. The voltage must be approximately 10-14 V.
In addition check the power supply for the cable, the cable between control module terminal #A9 and display screen terminal #9. The resistance must be less than 1 ohms.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the control module connector
There is probably a fault in the wiring between the display screen and the control module or in the middle connector.
Check the right-hand picture signal. Check the cable between the control module terminal #A17 and display screen terminal #7.
Check the ground signal for the right-hand picture. Check the cable between the control module terminal #A18 and display screen terminal #8.

Checking the supply to the display screen
Check the supply to the display screen. Supply is carried via a cable between control module terminal #A16 and display screen terminal #6. The ground terminal is from control module terminal #A13 and display screen terminal #3.

Checking the lighting for the control module
If the surround lighting for the display screen does not function. Carry out the checks as above on another cable.
Check the supply to the lighting. Check the cable between control module terminal #A20 and display screen terminal #10. The voltage must be approximately 10-14 V.
In addition check the power supply for the cable, the cable between control module terminal #A19 and display screen terminal #9. The resistance must be less than 1 ohms.
Remedy as necessary.
