Checking the wiring for the Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE)
Fault-tracing information
If no sound is heard from the Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE) system but the sound system in general, the car radio for example, otherwise functions, the fault could be due to:
- Supply/fuse for the rear audio separation (RAS) control module
- Supply/fuse for the Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE)
- Wiring from the ordinary sound system of the car
- The wiring between the Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE) and the rear audio separation (RAS) control module
- Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE).

Checking the settings
Check that the volume has not been turned down via the remote control menu system SPEAKERS. Also check that there is no sound from the rear speakers or from the headsets for the system. Check that the fault does not only occur when a specific sound source is selected.
Checking the power supply for the rear audio separation (RAS) control module
Check that the fuses for the rear audio separation (RAS) control module are intact and that power is supplied to the fusebox and ground terminal for the control module.
Hint: The rear audio separation (RAS) control module is supplied with power via terminal #A1 and #A4 and grounded via terminal #A13.
Checking the power supply control module
In addition check the fuses for the control module.
Hint: The control module is supplied with power via terminals #B1, #B4 and #B6. The control module is grounded via terminal #B12.
Checking the input signals to the rear audio separation (RAS) control module from the standard audio system of the car
Sound is received by the rear audio separation (RAS) control module from the connections where the rear loudspeakers are normally mounted on a standard car without a Rear Seat Entertainment Module (RSE). Check the following cables between the terminals and the rear audio separation (RAS) control module:
- Left-hand loudspeaker terminal #A23 (Amplifier L-)
- Left-hand loudspeaker terminal #A12 (Amplifier L+)
- Right-hand loudspeaker terminal #A21 (Amplifier R-)
- Right-hand loudspeaker terminal #A22 (Amplifier R+).

Audio signals function description
The sound from the DVD, TV or auxiliary jack (AUX) source is connected between each source and control module. The control module separates the desired sound source in two channels according to the wishes of the passengers. (This makes it possible to listen to different sources in the rear seat).
Channel 1 applies to passengers on the left-hand and channel 2 applies to passengers on the right-hand side. In addition there is an audio signal for each ear which achieves a stereo effect.
Checking the signals between the control module and rear audio separation (RAS) control module
Check the audio cable between the control module (terminal #C) and the rear audio separation (RAS) control module (terminal #A).
- Check the audio cable for channel 1, left ear. Check the cable between control module terminal #C2 and rear audio separation (RAS) control module terminal #A5
- Check the audio cable for channel 1, right ear. Check the cable between control module terminal #C1 and rear audio separation (RAS) control module terminal #A6
- Check the audio cable for channel 2, left ear. Check the cable between control module terminal #C5 and rear audio separation (RAS) control module terminal #A3
- Check the audio cable for channel 2, right ear. Check the cable between control module terminal #C4 and rear audio separation (RAS) control module terminal #A2
- In addition there is a ground connection for the audio signals Check the ground lead for the audio signal between the control module terminal #C12 and the rear audio separation (RAS) control module terminal #A15.
Rear audio separation (RAS) control module and speaker wiring
Check the function of the sound system. Check that both headsets function correctly. If the sound system functions, the rear audio separation (RAS) control module is receiving the correct signals from the control module.
The fault probably lies within the loudspeaker wiring for the rear loudspeakers or in the rear audio separation (RAS) control module.
Remedy as necessary.
