Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The transmission control module (TCM) compares the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) with the speed signal from the transmission. The control module also checks which gear is selected and compares it with the calculated gear. The speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) and the transmission speed signals should be almost identical, the transmission speed signal should be greater or lower than the brake control module (BCM) speed signal (vehicle speed must be above 30 km/h, engine speed (RPM) above 1400 rpm and transmission oil temperature over 20 °C).
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-000B is stored if the control module detects that the vehicle speed and engine speed (RPM) signals do not correspond with the programmed values and that an "incorrect" gear is being used in relation to the calculated gear. This is because a solenoid fault has occurred in the hydraulic circuit for gears 1-2 or 3-4.

Substitute value
- The control module "Limp-home" mode is engaged and only gear positions 3 and R are available. When the ignition is switched off, the control module switches to normal function and all four forward shift positions can be used.

Possible source
- The hydraulic valve for solenoid S1 has stuck in the open or closed position
- Defective control system (the solenoid binds or is stuck)
- Internal leakage in the transmission
- Warn or damaged clutch driven plates in the transmission.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
- No shifting (may be intermittent)
- No lock-up function.

Hint: When the transmission control module (TCM) detects disrupted function, "Limp-home" mode is activated and only shift positions 3 and R are available. Lock-up function is also unavailable.
