Checking the Traffic Information Reception
Checking the traffic information reception
Checking the component
Ensure that TMC is transmitted in the relevant area.
Hint: Check the system settings to ensure that traffic information is not deselected.
Check that connector H is correctly connected. On cars in Japan, connector I must also be checked.
Check the cable between the road traffic information (RTI) control module terminal #H1 and the TMC/FM multiplex (center pin) antenna amplifier terminal #1 (located at the bumper). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.
Cars in Japan: Check the cable between the road traffic information (RTI) control module terminal #I1 and the FM multiplex (located in the rear windshield) antenna amplifier terminal #1. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the two connectors on the TMC/FM multiplex amplifier.
Check the power supply to the TMC/FM multiplex amplifier from the radio by taking readings between the center pin on the TMC/FM multiplex amplifier and ground. It must be approximately 10 V. If the value is not approximately 10 V, fault trace according to the symptom "poor radio reception".
Remedy as necessary.

Was a fault detected?
Yes - Fault Found
No - Replacing the component

Replacing the component
Try a new TMC/FM multiplex antenna amplifier. In Japan also try a new FM multiplex antenna amplifier.
Hint: This fault-tracing cannot be verified because it is not possible to check whether any traffic information is being transmitted or not.
