43: Top panel gear selector assembly, replacing

Removal

Removing gear selector lever knob





Press down gear selector lever knob. At the same time turn a quarter of a turn to the left. Pull the gear selector lever knob straight up.

Removing the top panel





Lift up the panel at the rear edge. Then carefully detach the front edge.

Removing the space ball from the center console





NOTE: See where the mountings are in the center console.

Press the rear catch and lift the spaceball up slightly. Twist the spaceball out of its mountings. Move the gear selector lever to 5th gear.

Carefully lift the spaceball out of the center console and over the gear selector lever. Remove the spaceball.

Installation

Installing the spaceball in the center console
Install the spaceball over the gear selector lever.

Move the spaceball carefully into the center console. Move the gear selector lever to 5th gear.





Install the spaceball in the front mountings first and lock them using the rear mounting.

Installing the top panel





Install the top panel on the center console.

Installing gear selector knob





Install the gear selector lever knob on the gear selector lever. Press the gear selector lever knob down. At the same time turn a quarter turn to the right.

Check the gear selector lever position in the space ball. It should be in the middle of the space ball. If the gear selector lever is not in the correct position, check the transmission cable. See Transmission cable, adjusting.
