Top panel, gear selector assembly, replacement

Removal

Removing the gear lever knob




Press the gear lever knob down. At the same time, turn it one quarter of a turn to the left and pull it straight up.

Removing the top panel




Lift the panel at the rear edge. Following which, detach it carefully at the front edge.

Removing the spaceball from the center console





Note! Note the bracket locations in the center console.

Press on the rear catch and lift the spaceball slightly. Fold it out from its brackets. Move the gear lever to 5th gear position.
Lift the spaceball carefully from the center console and over the gear lever, and remove the spaceball.

Installation

Installing the spaceball to the center console




Install the spaceball over the gear lever.
Carefully fold the spaceball down to the center console. Move the gear lever to 5th gear position.
Fit the spaceball in its front brackets first and lock them with the rear bracket.

Installing the top panel




Install the top panel to the center console.

Installing the gear lever knob




Install the gear lever knob to the gear lever by pressing down the gear lever knob. At the same time, turn it one quarter of a turn to the right.
Check the position of the gear lever in the spaceball, it must be central. If the gear lever is not in the correct position, check the adjustment of the gear cable in accordance with Transmission cable, replacing, M58, M56 Service and Repair.
