Signals
The tables summarize the input and output signals to the units in the central locking function. The signal types are divided into directly connected signals and Controller Area Network (CAN) communication.
Rear electronic module (REM) (4/58):
Input signals
Directly connected:
- Contact breaker, trunk lid, for opening trunk lid (S80/S60).
- Contact breaker in lock unit, driver's door, for indicating open door.
- Contact breaker in lock unit, passenger door, for indicating open door.
- Contact breaker in lock unit, right-hand rear door, for indicating open door.
- Contact breaker in lock unit, left-hand rear door, for indicating open door.
- Contact breaker in lock unit, tailgate/trunk lid, for indicating open tailgate/trunk lid.
- Contact breaker, hood, for indicating open hood (only vehicles with alarm).
- Contact breaker in lock unit, left-hand rear door, for indicating lock motor status.
- Contact breaker in lock unit, right-hand rear door, for indicating lock motor status.
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Driver door module (DDM), for status information on certain lock motors.
- Passenger door module (PDM), for status information on certain lock motors.
- Engine control module (ECM) for information on the status of the engine.
- Brake control module (BCM), for information on vehicle speed.
- Transmission control module (TCM), indicates the position of the gear selector.
- Central electronic module (CEM), for information on the type of key used to unlock the vehicle and the request to open the fuel tank filler cover.
Output signals
Directly connected:
- Lock unit, tailgate/trunk lid, for activating lock motor.
- Lock motor, fuel tank filler cover, for activating lock motor.
- Lock unit in left-hand rear door, for activating lock motors.
- Lock unit in right-hand rear door, for activating lock motors.
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Driver door module (DDM), for locking and unlocking commands.
- Passenger door module (PDM), for locking and unlocking commands.
- Central electronic module (CEM), with the request for acknowledgement via direction indicators and activation of acoustic signal (key warning).
Driver door module (DDM) (3/126):
Input signals
Directly connected:
- Indication of locked mode from the lock motor
- Central locking switch.
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), for locking and unlocking commands.
Output signals
Directly connected:
- Output signal to driver's door lock unit for activation of central locking motor.
- Output signal to driver's door lock unit for activation of deadlocking motor.
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), for status information on certain lock motors.
Passenger door module (PDM) (3/127):
Input signals
Directly connected:
- Indication of locked mode from the lock motor
- Central locking switch
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), for locking and unlocking commands.
Output signals
Directly connected:
- Output signal to passenger door lock unit for activation of central locking motor.
- Output signal to passenger door lock unit for activation of deadlocking motor.
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), for status information on certain lock motors.
Climate control module (CCM) (3/112):
Input signals
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), for activation of LEDs in switches for activated function (private locking, child safety locks, reduced alarm).
Output signals
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), if switch for reduced alarm is pressed (no deadlocking).
- Rear electronic module (REM), if switch for private locking is pressed (S80/S60).
- Rear electronic module (REM), if switch for child safety locks is pressed (option).
Driver information module (DIM) (5/1):
Input signals
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
- Rear electronic module (REM), for information on whether information lamp or warning lamp is to be lit.
- Rear electronic module (REM), for information on which text message is to be displayed.
- Central electronic module (CEM), for activation of acoustic signal (key warning).
Output signals
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:
