Checking the Antenna Amplifier

Checking the antenna amplifier

Checking the component

Note! Check that there is no tinted film containing metal oxides installed on the rear windshield. This can affect TV reception.

- Ignition on
- Select TV on the audio unit.
Disconnect both the connectors on the TV receiver which go to the antenna amplifier.
Then connect tool 951 2857 2-pin adapter 951 2857 2-Pin Adapter to one connector at a time. The switch in the tool should be in the OFF position. Measure the current. The current should be between 20 and 60 mA. Try a new antenna amplifier if the value is outside the listed range.
Check that the antenna amplifier connector is connected to the antenna in the rear windshield.
When replacing the antenna amplifier for the TV check that "TV" is shown on the replacement unit.

Hint: If the antenna amplifier draws more than 100 mA, the current is "shut off" in the TV control module and drops to 0 mA.

Remedy as necessary.
