Checking the power supply
- Ignition off.
Ensure that the battery voltage exceeds 12 V.
Connect a battery charger if necessary.
Check the power supply to the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Perform in accordance with:
- Turn the ignition key to position I.
The SRS (supplemental restraint system) indicator lamp in the driver information module (DIM) must come on.
If the power supply (X supply) to the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) is OK, the SRS warning lamp must go out after a few seconds.
If the SRS warning lamp does not go out, the power supply (X supply) must be checked.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking communication
- Ignition off.
Ensure that the battery voltage exceeds 12 V.
Connect a battery charger if necessary.
Check the communication on the CAN network regarding the passenger airbag warning lamp (PAD).
If the Passenger airbag warning lamp (PAD) is OK and the communication on the CAN network functions as it should, the PAD lamp should come on immediately and remain lit for a few seconds to confirm the lamp is working.
Carry out checks according to:
- Note the Passenger airbag warning lamp (PAD).
- Turn the ignition key from position 0 directly to position II.
1. PAD lamp is not lit
2. Passenger airbag warning lamp (PAD) comes on immediately.
3. Passenger airbag warning lamp (PAD) comes on after a delay of 0.5 seconds or more.
Select alternative according to above.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is intermittent.
